The subprime mess show to what extremes the financial institutions will go to protect the bottom line.In what could be a a key ruling for those of us hoping to learn more about shady subprime lending practices, a bankruptcy judge has given New Century Financial until February 6 to turn over a report of an investigation into the firm's cash handling practices to bankruptcy monitors..This is an example of how things work. This mentality also effects people who are injured in crashes or by any someones negligence. The people with the money will go to any ends not to pay a fair amount on claims. Everyone should be aware of these facts.

For more information on this subject, please refer to the section on Car and Motorcycle Accidents.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Joe Stanley

Winter weather is upon us. Todays rollover accident is an example of why we must watch out for the other driver. We all need to remember our own winter driving skills, remember to signal don't slam on your brakes and maintain a safe distance among other things.
Car Accidents - No-Fault

Many people have heard that New York is a No-Fault State and interpret that to mean that it does not matter whose fault the accident was in seeking recovery. However, this is only partially true. Regardless of fault you are entitled to recover for medical expenses, lost wages up to $2000 a month and some minimal additional expenses. However fault is required to be shown against the other driver to recover for pain and suffering. In addiiton, fault will still determine who receives a ticket, who pays the property damage and whose insurance premiums will increase.

If you have been involved in a car accident and have questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

For more information on this subject, please refer to the section on Car and Motorcycle Accidents.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Rob Quattrocci

Big Brother IS Watching You

I have noticed a disturbing trend in the way victims of negligence are treated. Insurance companies rather than paying a fair settlement will use any means not to pay a fair settlement. One trick is to blame the injured party and to try to show they are trying to "rip off" the system. How do they do this?

One of the method is to follow the injured person around. During the process of watching and following over days they will take video to try and show that the injured party is not really hurt at all. they will mislead and question friends and neighbors to try and get some "dirt". This process may seem harmless . It is not. The methods used can be manipulated to show anyone in a bad light. The invasion of privacy can be severe. So if you are injured at work, in a car accident, in a fall, on a construction site, or from anyone negligence beware big brother may be watching

For more information on this subject, please refer to the section on Car and Motorcycle Accidents.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Joe Stanley

Car Accidents - DWI

Two horrible accidents occurred over the weekend. The first accident involved a woman who turned around at a thruway toll station and then proceeded to get go down an off ramp thus driving head on with oncoming traffic. As indicated by the story: "Instead of going through the toll booth at Carrier Circle, Mauro made a U-turn and began driving west on the eastbound ramp, Merritt said. She continued the wrong way for about a mile and then collided with a 2002 Nissan at 10:15 p.m." Luckily, the other driver did not appear too seriously injured. Ms. Mauro was charged with DWI.

In the second accident a drunken motorcyclist with a passenger crossed into oncoming traffic. "The two were riding on Route 80 near Gibson Road when the motorcycle collided with a car, according to the sheriff's press release. The 2007 Harley Davidson veered into the northbound lane of Route 80 and collided with a 2005 Volkswagon driven by Shadia Khalif of Manlius."

Thus, again please do not drink and drive as it has serious consequences.

For more information on this subject, please refer to our section on Car and Motorcycle Accidents.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Rob Quattrocci
