Man Ran Red Light, Causing Wreck

A 21-year-old Syracuse man is being charged after police say he ran a red light that caused a car accident, on Sunday. Investigators say the man was headed south on Van Rensselaer Street in Syracuse when he ran the light at Bear Street intersection crashing into a pickup truck.

The driver walked away from the crash unharmed, but several of the passengers of the car needed treatment. A seven-year-old, in the car at the time of the crash in critical condition after she was extricated from the vehicle and an 8-year-old girl is being treated for head injuries. There were to other passengers treated for minor injuries.

The driver is being charged with aggravated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
